Llano, the seat of Llano County, is on the Llano River and is one of the most unique and picturesque cities in the Lone Star State. It is served by State Highway 29, about 75 miles northwest of Austin and 100 miles north of San Antonio.
   
Llano County was established in 1856. This area is also known as the Central Mineral Region of Texas.
   
The area has a mild climate with relatively few winter days in which the temperature reaches below freezing.
   
Education in Llano is also important. In fact, our mission is to improve the academic performance of all our students. The school district includes the Llano and Packsaddle elementary schools,
a junior high school and Llano High School. You'll also find plenty of higher education opportunities in the area.
